Oscar Worthy Dessert

photo 1

Is everybody as excited as I am about this weekend’s Academy Awards and Oscar Red Carpet Showdown??

Now I don’t get too revved up about the Grammy, Emmy, or Tony’s Awards, but I sure do love the Oscars! I am a huge movie buff and love seeing all of my favorite peeps get super styled out to celebrate another year of great entertainment (ahem, also their multi-millions of dollars made…).

Now I promise come Monday morning I will not go on a rant about who should have won what, but I might just have to comment about my favorite dress! We’ll see, I hope this year is not a dud for fashion!

Now, getting back to the post; I present to you the Bakery’s take on how to enjoy the show! Since we don’t get to tread the Red Carpet like all of the stars, I figured we should at least be treated to something just as eye catching!

There you have it! Short and sweet. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and it was enough to get you jazzed about the award show this weekend!

If you would like to enjoy some cream cheese frosting the recipe is here.

If you would like to see how I made my totally awesome Red Carpet cupcake wrappers you can find out here.

I am still not totally happy with my Red Velvet cake recipe so I’m holding off on posting that until I create a really good one!

Thanks for stopping by!… who do you think is going to win best movie??

WOW! I love your photography on this post - it gives such a moody feel to the shots; perfect for an event with the gravity of the Oscars. And what a fabulous (!) cake stand. I have never seen one like that before - bet I wouldn't be able to find an equivalent in the UK :o(

Fancy! Hmmm, I love cream-cheese frosting. I think there is a problem with red velvet cake: it's attractive to look at, but it just doesn't taste as good as either (depending on what you like) chocolate or carrot cake (I prefer the latter, but really a good plain chocolate cake like that classic Hershey's Black Magic cake, which uses coffee as well as cocoa is always going to taste better than red velvet). Is there any way to turn the red velvet into, I don't know, banana bread-type thing that could still be colored but would have a richer flavor?

@Jenny Davidson

I totally agree! Although I have had (one time) a fantastic Red Velvet cake, and thus I am on a hunt for a REAL recipe that will give me the cake I want!

mmmmmmm red velvet. I believe it can be amazing when done correctly. The hospital here actually has pretty awesome RV cupcakes and I think the secret is they use a few chocolate chunks sprinkled in the batter. I'm going to an Oscar party, which I'm more excited about then the actual awards but at least this year I've seen some of the movies!

Oh my goodness, that is a great lookin' cake! I need to taste that one for sure. Can you believe that I have never had a red velvet cake? I can't. I must remedy that right now!
