Oh yes, I said it. Key Lime Pie! As some of you may know I went to university in South Carolina, and it was down in the South that I learned of some really great dishes. Key Lime Pie is one of them!
The combination is so sweet and tart all at the same time, just when you say to yourself “that was the last slice bite” you always find a way to sneak one more! There’s always room for one more when it comes to Key Lime Pie!
The recipe is really quite simple, and is listed below. Personally I think the crust is what really makes or breaks your Key Lime Pie Squares. Don’t just opt for the pre made graham crust, make your own and don’t skip on the secret ingredients! (Note: secret ingredients are listed below… I’m not so good at keeping secrets!)
After cooking and cooling, I went ahead and popped the squares out of my tart pan, and cut them up and topped them with a little whip cream!
Then I went ahead and ate too many of them… now I have a belly ache :( It hurts so good!!
Here’s the recipe, see if you can’t resist!
I’m back to round two!
Any Southern recipes that you think I should know about? Is so tell me about it! Southern desserts = Goodness!

I love how you added almonds to the crust - I bet it adds a very subtle nutty flavor and results in a richer texture.
Southern desserts - molasses cookies :).
Oh yum...definitely need to make these (Aaron says so). I don't like it, but have you ever made pecan pie? That's quite the southern dessert.
You're holding out on us!
@Mark
Haha, these are a re-make from Friday night's flop dessert! I'm saving squares for dessert for you two tonight!
Mmmmm....
I have the best peach cobbler recipe that came from a friend of friend living in Atlanta. Before adding the cobbler batter to the pan you melt a stick of butter in the pan (a whole stick for a 9 inch round) it is amazing cobbler.
Key lime pie is my favorite! Must try these!
I've never had key lime pie! Clear sign that I'm from NY, not the south! But these look awesome and make me want to whip up key lime pie soon. I love the almonds & sea salt secret ingredients, I'm going to have to try that!
